Speak for Yourself is a program through the Minnesota Farm Bureau. It is a chance for farmers to speak out about what they are doing on their farms, their farming practices, families, animals and what they are doing in their communities.
There has been a huge misunderstanding about agricultural practices, especially now. With releases of the movie Food, Inc. there are misconstrued ideas of what happens on farms. Mark and I speak out about what really happens on farms. We want people to know where their food comes from, how their food is raised and why it is healthy for them. Farming is important to our sustainability as a country, and being able to produce our own food is part of that.
At Hewitt Farms we raise crops such as corn and soybeans, and Mark & I also raise chickens for eggs. We pride ourselves in what we produce and stand behind our products. We know its safe and healthy because we eat it ourselves and feed it to our children. Farming is an interesting and ever-changing industry that we ourselves, never stop learning about.
Mark and I both speak for the Speak for Yourself program. Our presentation runs about 15-20 minutes. In this presentation you will learn more about our background, Hewitt Farms & what we want you to know about farming.
